Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble at South Jazz Club

Lifeline Music Coalition is excited to present the 8th annual installment of our signature series – “Jazz – Up, Down, and Around” – and we’re going to a new venue – “SOUTH” located at 600 N. Broad St on The Avenue of the Arts North.

This concert will feature the music and history of some of the jazz world’s greatest innovators – who happen to be from Philadelphia….either born there or moved there…and nurtured their career in Philly. It will include the music and compositions of jazz giants such as: McCoy Tyner, Benny Golson, Lee Morgan, The Heath Brothers, Billie Holiday, Pearl Bailey, John Coltrane, Archie Shepp, Odean Pope, Jamaladeen Tacuma, Bootsie Barnes, Shirley Scott and more….....

As always there will be a performance by a youth ensemble, this year it will be “Perpetual Motion”, young players from Philly who are making their mark on the jazz scene. Also there will be a performance by a modernistic , forward thinking group called “Wisdom Stick”, and finally, live music by one of the veteran Philly groups –“The Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble” All music will focus on Philly players and composers!

The program timeline is as follows:

3:30pm – 4:45pm Perpetual Motion Ensemble

5:00pm – 6:15pm Wisdom Stick Band

6:30pm – 7:45pm Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble w/ special guests

8;00pm – 8:20pm Audience Talk Back

8:40pm – 9:40pm Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble “Philly Jam Session”
