Weldon's soulful, blues drenched playing developed early during his four-decade professional career working in the groups of iconic jazz organists Dr. Lonnie Smith, Jimmy McGriff, Jack McDuff and Joey DeFrancesco. His resume also includes important work with many other notable jazz artists. Among them are Lionel Hampton, Mel Torme, George Benson, Cedar Walton and Roy Haynes.
