Lynn Riley has been investigating world music since her undergraduate days in ethnomusicology at the University of Hawaii. Her flute and saxophone studies in Kansas City coincided with the historic Women’s Jazz Festival recently documented in Changing the Tune: The Kansas City Women’s Jazz Festival, 1978-1985. Lynn worked both sides of that venture, both as board member and artist, allowing her to perform with Carmen McRae, Marian McPartland, Shirley Scott, Emily Remler and Blossom Dearie.
Lynn has been on the music faculty at Drexel University since 1999. She has continued her studies and performed in Ghana, Cuba, South Africa, Bolivia and Brazil. She has performed with Grover Washington Jr., Philly Joe Jones, David Bromberg, Peter White, Rachelle Farrell, Charles Earland, David Murray and Johnny Pacheco, as well as leading her own groups.
Aaron Graves is the consummate musician: pianist, composer, arranger, music director. Raised in North Carolina, the son of a musical preacher, Aaron always brings a spiritual down-home feeling to his music. And he has been a favorite of singers: Jimmy Scott, Dakota Staton, Jon Hendricks, Oscar Brown, Jr., Cassandra Wilson, Grady Tate, Vanessa Rubin, Kevin Mahogany, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Ruth Naoni Floyd among others.
Aaron attended Howard University and studied with Jazz masters Kenny Barron, Barry Harris and Stanley Cowell. He has performed with Stanley Turrentine, Houston Person, Antonio Hart, Greg Osby, Kenny Burrell, Frank Foster, Grover Washington Jr., Maceo Parker, Donald Byrd and James Moody.
