He’s been the recipient of awards and commissions worldwide including the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship in 2022. His new quartet Being & Becoming features some of the leading lights from the next generation of creative musicians: bassist Nick Jozwiak, and drummer Michael Shekwoaga Ode. Their self-titled debut album features a set of new compositions from Evans, moving between notated chamber music textures, free improvisations, deep grooves and telepathic ensemble playing.
