The Jazz Bridge Third Wednesdays Neighborhood Concerts Series in Media at the Unitarian Universalist Church—145 West Rose Tree Road in Media—presents trumpeter Duane Eubanks and his quartet on Wednesday, February 19. The youngest of three jazz-playing brothers, and a nephew of Ray Bryant, Duane Eubanks was raised in intensively musical surroundings. Deciding to learn the trumpet, he soon began to play effectively in the post-bop idiom. After studying for a degree in Business Administration at the University of Maryland, Eubanks enrolled as a jazz major at Temple University. In 1997, he made his recording debut on his brother Robin Eubanks’ “Wake Up Call.” In addition to leading his own group—which will include saxophonist Victor North, drummer Byron Landham and bassist Alex Claffy for this performance—Eubanks has also performed with giants such as Antonio Hart, Illinois Jacquet, Oliver Lake, Donald Byrd, and James Moody....
