The Spirit in Jazz (SIJ) band comes together to perform spiritually-grounded music that goes to the root of the African American art form Jazz. Each member has deep roots in the African-American sacred music tradition. The concert will follow the reception honoring Jazz Hero Don Gardner.

Don Gardner will receive an engraved statuette and be celebrated from 6:30-8:00 followed by the Spirit in Jazz Band Concert at 8:30 pm. ($15)

The Jazz "Heroes" award acknowledges the contributions of dedicated individuals who serve as advocates for creative music in their local communities.
