Theater Residency Public Readings at Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts

Join the Kimmel Center and Joe's Pub at The Public in celebration of this two-week 2015 Theater Residency experience, culminating with FREE public readings (July 1-2) with audience feedback and Q&A opportunities. Under the tutelage of Shanta Thake, Director of Joe's Pub, and the Kimmel Center's Artistic Director, Jay Wahl, the residency program will guide four world-class theater and musical storytelling artists through the writing process and composition of five new works.

The 2015 residency artists include: Philadelphia's own Dito Van Reigersberg (a.k.a. The focus will be on text, voice, music and body, and how these elements are woven together into theatrical storytelling. The eventual goal will be for the Kimmel Center to produce completed versions of their work in the coming few seasons. Last season, the inaugural Kimmel Center Theater Residency produced Deb Margolin's 8 Stops, which made its world premiere in Philadelphia as part of the program before making its New York City debut at the Cherry Lane Theater this month to rave reviews from the New York Times, The Public Review and NY Theater Review.
