Video Screening at Celebrating Coltrane Festival at Ritz At The Bourse

Scribe Video Center presents three Coltrane-related media works including two short of their own projects; “The John Coltrane House” a recently produced nine minute video, along with “Giant Steps:” produced in collaboration with The John W. Coltrane Society in 1994. Also included is “Coltrane's Philadelphia” by the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia – a 25-minute film.

"A few years ago, the Onion A/V club asked me to do a short video interview.... in front of the Coltrane House. When I pulled up, the Historic Marker... was gone. I ...was troubled by the absence of the sign. So I started to call around and got nowhere.... After leaving like 6-8 messages with different departments that went unreturned, I finally heard back from Rob Armstrong, who is involved with preservation in the parks and happens to be a jazz scholar. Philadelphia Jazz Project, in collaboration with Temple University Libraries, WRTI, PhillyCAM, Jazz Near You and other partners present a celebration of John Coltrane's 90th Birthday with 9 days of FREE events in Philadelphia. These events will take place between September 17th to 25th, 2016.
