"Sounds like David Bowie and Freddie Mercury had a love child," claimed one fan upon his first encounter with Jon Smith’s Voyages. A strange but bold statement, his analogy holds up. Many fans say the style of front man Jon Paul Smith’s songwriting is reminiscent of daring acts like Queen, Bowie, and even Broadway musicals. Yet Smith achieves his sound naturally with unique piano-based arrangements and an incredible vocal range to create a genre best described as “theatrical-rock.”

Warp Factor 9 is a monthly concert series created, curated, and produced by pianist and artist, Erica Corbo. Held in a small piano studio in West Philadelphia, the series features small ensembles of all genres in an intimate community setting. WF9 creates a much needed home for local avant-garde acts, as well as for solo pianists and piano-focused ensembles. In pairing the avant-garde with more mainstream genres, Erica hopes to break down the unnecessary divides placed between musical styles, artistic disciplines, peoples, and all other things.
