About

Annie Ross (of the jazz vocal trio Lambert, Hendricks & Ross) and King Pleasure pioneered the jazz singing style known as “vocalese,” putting original lyrics to jazz instrumentals. King Pleasure could sing a horn solo, and Annie Ross could make music dance like a trumpet gone wild. From “Moody’s Mood for Love” to “Gimme That Wine,” their singing became jazz swinging.
