I first encountered Victor this year playing with maestro Paquito D’Rivera—a virtuoso so fierce, only other virtuosos (like Arturo Stable) can run with him. But I was not prepared for Victor, whose solos and duets with Paquito left a roomful of jaws touching the floor.

Forget what you know about the steel drum. Victor Provost is a phenomenon. Technically deft, with a jazz heart and a soaringly lyrical soul, Victor is the real deal—so brilliantly musical and not to be missed.

Ably assisted by Paquito-alum Alex Brown on piano, Zach Brown on bass, and Kush Abadey on drums, the Victor Provost Group visits us one day before they hit Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola to release their new CD “Bright Eyes".
