Every year, since 1970, the Chicago Blues Festival tours through Europe with an everchanging group of musicians. This years line-up is again splendid.

John Primer was the guitarist of ‘Magic Slim & The Teardrops’ for many years before he began a solo-career with his own band ‘The Real Deal’. His guitar playing is based on the Chicago blues made in the 1950’s. He’s been asked by many blues artists to not only play on their records, but also to go on tour with them. The former protege of Pinetop Perkins was, along with many ex-bandmembers of Muddy Waters, part of the ‘Legendary Blues Band’.

Bob Corritore is a popular session musician. This passoniate fan of Muddy Waters, Big Walter Horton and Junior Wells adds a modern twist to the blues this group is known for.
The impressive singer Peaches Staten, born in the Mississipi Delta, learned to sing in the small clubs in Chicago, and by listening a lot to Etta James, Bessie Smith, Janis Joplin and Koko Taylor. The last couple of years have been very good for her career, because of some well received albums.

The rhythm section again consists of drummer Willie Hayes and bassist Melvin Smith. The list of legends they’ve played with is kind of like a ‘who is who’ of the blues world.

This is the only Dutch concert during their European tour!
