Artist Bios
Rhia Foster - Guest Vocalist
Born in Cashmere, WA, Foster is a vocalist, educator, and performer living in the Wenatchee Valley. She graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2014 with degrees in vocal jazz performance and music business. Foster is the cofounder of the award winning group Point of Departure Vocal Jazz at Berklee and has worked with jazz musicians from around the globe. She is particularly passionate about supporting local musicians and specializes in artist management, events coordination, and jazz ballads.
Jared Hall – Trumpet / Flugelhorn / Composer
Spokane native and 2013 National Trumpet Competition winner Jared Hall has performed and recorded with jazz icons including Paquito D’Rivera, Arturo Sandoval, Maria Schneider, Vincent Herring, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Peter Erskine, Dave Liebman, and Terence Blanchard. A dynamic performer and composer, Hall has appeared at Tula’s Jazz Club, the Gene Harris Jazz Festival, Bellevue Jazz Festival, and the Leavenworth Jazz Festival. His expressive sound and modern post-bop style have earned him national recognition as both an artist and educator.
Tal Cohen – Piano
Grammy Award–winning pianist Tal Cohen is known for his breathtaking improvisation and global performance career. Winner of the Barry Harris National Piano Competition and recipient of the prestigious Freedman Fellowship, Cohen has performed at the Sydney Opera House and major jazz festivals worldwide.
He has toured and recorded with Terence Blanchard, Greg Osby, Ignacio Berroa, Joe Lovano, and many others, and leads his own ensemble featured at renowned venues including the Detroit Jazz Festival, Melbourne Jazz Festival, and The Black Cat in San Francisco.
Michael Glynn – Bass
One of the top bassists in the Pacific Northwest, Michael Glynn has worked with Bud Shank, Jon Hendricks, Bobby Shew, Geoffrey Keezer, Seamus Blake, David Hazeltine, Benny Green, and members of the Cab Calloway Orchestra. His performance career has taken him across the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and the Caribbean. Glynn is known for his warm tone, impeccable feel, and versatility across styles.
John Bishop – Drums
A foundational figure of Northwest jazz for over 40 years, John Bishop is a drummer, educator, festival organizer, record label owner, and Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame inductee. He has performed with Lee Konitz, Slide Hampton, Benny Golson, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Carla Bley, Herb Ellis, Gary Peacock, and dozens more. With appearances on over 100 albums and accolades including “Jazz Hero” by the Jazz Journalists Association, Bishop brings both depth and artistry to every performance.
