The Bigband Lier was founded in 2004 as one of the ten instrumental ensembles of the jazz department / light music at the Academy of Music, Drama and Dance in Lier, Belgium.

The SAMWD is the largest academy for Part-time artistic education in Flanders and now has 3,800 students. In the department jazz / popular music, founded in 1994, all instruments and subsidiary subjects taught needed for the different ensembles to play.

The Bigband Lier is a standard big band with a wide big band repertoire and has in a short time built a great reputation as a band with fantastic solo players, some of which are now in various conservatories study....
