Cuban pianist Chucho Valdés, winner of six GRAMMY Awards and three Latin GRAMMY Awards, is the most influential figure in modern Afro-Cuban jazz over the last 50 years. His most recent project, Jazz Batá 2, is an exceptional work in which he revisits the sacred rhythms of the batá drum, the music that would form the foundation of his history-making group, Irakere.
