Jazz Bridge Summer Concert Series @hawthorne Park With Bassist, Nimrod Speaks at Hawthorne Park

Jazz Bridge will once again bring back their Summer Concert Series, “Jazz in Hawthorne Park” located in the park at 12th & Catherine Streets, Phila., PA on May 18, June 15, July 20 and Aug. 17 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. These concerts are FREE and lawn chairs, beach chairs, picnic baskets and some friends are welcome to have a great time.

The summer concert series in Hawthorne Park is being presented with the support of the City of Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and via funding from the Fairmount Park Conservancy and Alterra Property Group. Rain dates are a week later - May 25, June 22. July 27, and August 24.


Bassist Nimrod Speaks started his musical progression at the age of 16 years old. Nimrod’s musical journey includes not only jazz, but gospel, classical, soul, R&B and African Rhythms. You can hear much of Speaks soulful tone and influences from masters like: Ralph Bowen, Tim Warfield, Conrad Herwig, Doug Mapp, Vic Juris, Victor Lewis, Stanley Cowell, Mike Richmond, Scott Lee, just to name a few. Speaks splits his time between teaching privately, ministering with nonprofit organizations and traveling with Greg Osby, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Ronnie Burrage, Doc Gibbs, Hanible Lokumbe, Jerry Topinka, Camille Thurman, and others. Most recently, you can hear Nimrod as part of the Allan Harris Band or locally with the Leon Jordan Sr. Trio and also as part of the Luke O’Reilly Trio.
