About
Kitty and her band return to The Bulls Head Barnes to celebrate one of the hippest jazz vocalists of all time, the wonderful Anita O’Day! Anita O’Day is a celebrated jazz vocalist widely admired for her keen sense of rhythm and dynamics. She was immortalised in the film “Jazz On A Summers Day”. Where her live performance at the Newport Jazz Festival in 1958 wowed the world with her incredible vocal phrasing and speed with her versions of “Sweet Georgia Brown” and “Tea For Two”.
Kitty will be performing with a backing trio to imitate the line-up that Anita mainly played with during her Verve Records period. However, over the course of the afternoon Kitty and the band will cover all the classic songs from O’Day’s career. Repertoire will include arrangements from her famous Newport Jazz Festival performance, and her interpretations of classic songs "Honey Suckle Rose", "Waiter Make Mine Blues", "Old Devil Moon", "Is You Is Or Is You Aint My Baby" amongst many others. The line-up for the show will be Kitty Whitelaw, vocals, James Buckham, piano, Chris Hyde-Harrison, double bass & Eric Ford, drums. Come celebrate the Jezebel of Jazz! ...
