On stage, Philadelphia native Saudah Al-Akbar performance is reminiscent of the legendary Billie Holiday and Sara Vaughan. It is no surprise that this songress has been performing in the Jazz genre since the age of 14. After being heard by the legendary Max Roach, at 14, she was the youngest vocalist to receive a scholarship and attend the Jazz in July Workshop in Improvisation at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. For this performance, Al-Akbar is taking the audience on a vocal exploration into Afro-Latino music singing and melodies in Brazilian, Portuguese and English. Vocal Exploration into Afro-Latino Music is Brazilian Jazz, popular sambas, and bossa novas.  It may be interpreted as a passionate and heart wrenching bolero that appeals to African-Americans who embraced hypnotic rhythms and chord progressions. This performance will provide a rare opportunity for Philadelphia Jazz audiences to experience latino, vocal and latino musician....
