Fortunately, Zurich is home to two world-class orchestras that are stylistically diverse, open to experimentation and completely free of musical prejudice. Our June project will bring together members of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the Zurich Jazz Orchestra for the first time in a 35-piece “jazz wind ensemble”. Members of both orchestras will perform as soloists and we will play a mixture of historically significant jazz music by Duke Ellington, George Russell and Charlie Parker, as well as contemporary music by Eliane Elias, Wayne Shorter and Kenny Kirkland.
