As a child André began to teach himself to play guitar and bass, and as a teenager he played his first professional gigs in his hometown of Sao Paulo.
With his growing love of jazz came the desire to study music, which in turn led him to Germany.
There he completed his studies in jazz eletric bass at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, and jazz double bass at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen, both with top grades.
To date André can be heard on over 70 records. He has toured throughout Europe, Asia and Africa. He has made or recorded music with Brazilian musicians like Carlos Malta, Serginho Trombone, Arthur Maia, Claudio Infante, Simoninha und Max de Castro, and with Europeans such as Matthias Schriefel, Simon Nabatov, Uli Beckerhoff, Bodek Janke, Juliana da Silva und Tony Lakatos, among many others.
André is also a very active composer, arranger and producer. His compositions and arrangements have been published on compilations worldwide, and have even made it into the world music charts in Germany.
