The Cologne-based singer-songwriter is on tour with her new album Flowermind – with a sound that feels like Nashville but comes from Germany. With her warm, brilliantly clear voice, she tells stories that are both comforting and uplifting – sometimes floatingly light, sometimes intense and haunting, always full of expression and luminosity.
The musical cosmos that Köpf has created together with drummer and producer Tim Dudek breathes the spirit of artists such as Jackson Browne, Steely Dan and Judee Sill and moves effortlessly between folk, New Orleans soul, Americana, jazz and Southern country. It sounds as natural as if she had never heard anything other than these quintessentially American genres since she was a child.
With “Flowermind”, she continues in the vein of her four previous albums. After successful tours and enthusiastic reviews from experts and audiences alike, Köpf is now bringing new songs to the stage that combine Americana, country and folk with a lyrical depth that always evokes comparisons with Joni Mitchell and Paul Simon. “I want to evoke emotions and create images with my lyrics,” says the trained jazz singer. “But I also incorporate pressing issues of our time such as the climate crisis, fascism and social justice – subtly and without pointing a finger.”
She is accompanied live by a top-class, sensitive band that imaginatively translates the timeless yet contemporary sound of the album. Whether profound and melancholic, from anthemic power to gentle country longing to groovy lightness – every concert promises not only musical sophistication, but also an evening full of warmth, intensity and unforgettable atmosphere.
