Hans Lüdemann and Finnish guitarist Kalle Kalima have enjoyed a long collaboration in various formations. In 2015, Kalima played for the first time as a guitarist in Lüdemann’s TransEuropeExpress ensemble and on its CD Polyjazz. In 2023, their joint album on the edges 2 was released.
In addition to their work in bands and ensembles, both musicians greatly appreciate intimate chamber music performances. Hans Lüdemann has recently collaborated with Italian clarinet maestro Gianluigi Trovesi and trumpeter Reiner Winterschladen, among others, while Kalle Kalima has worked with Swiss singer Andreas Scherer and trombonist Conny Bauer. The duo offers flexibility and freedom for musical communication and varied musical dialogues, in which both instruments can unfold the full range of their timbres and both musicians can display their virtuosity and ingenuity. One of Kalle Kalima’s specialties is to extend his range into the bass register. Kalle and Hans made their debut as a duo in 2024, and they are now embarking on a new phase at the LOFT.
