The Neue Zürcher Zeitung writes about their previous collaboration in Jarry Singla’s sextet THE MUMBAI PROJECT: „What is happening here is an encounter between classical Indian music and European jazz that means far more than the respectful bow with which the sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar and the violinist Yehudi Menuhin set a – then important! – sign of understanding. This is not just an exchange of pleasantries. It is about the living. Jarry Singla EASTERN FLOWERS is one of the outstanding ensembles selected by the state of NRW for the so-called ensemble promotion program. The CDs MINERALLE, TENDU and CONFLUENCE have been released by Jazzsick Records. Past projects have included a collaboration with the big band of Hessischer Rundfunk.
