Baritone saxophonist and composer Kira Linn presents her new large ensemble, Her Wings. Poems by female writers such as Emily Dickinson, Amy Lowell, and Sappho are at the heart of her compositions. In them, she combines jazz and improvisation with singer-songwriter elements.
The texts, some of which are more than a hundred years old, take on a new musical form and thus unfold their contemporary relevance. Between composed passages and improvisational freedom, a multi-layered soundscape emerges that highlights the individual expressiveness of each musician....
