For over 20 years, Simon Nabatov has combined Russian literature and music in his work. So far, he has created six large-scale compositions, which were performed and recorded at the LOFT:

In the new 2-part project Raging Bulgakov, Nabatov sets two stories by Russian writer Mikhail Bulgakov to music.

Dog’s Heart is a cynical satire on the „new Soviet man“ propagated by the Soviet Union, and is about a rough-and-tumble „dog man“ created by an experiment, who turns into a nightmare for his creator.
The story is a timeless utopia, a visionary grotesque that scrutinizes the socio-political experiment of the time and remains relevant today – one need only think of genetic engineering or ideology manipulation.
