The fact that Victor Gelling has learned to love the microtonal, 43-note sound world of the American composer was already evident at the last concert at LOFT in spring 2024, where the Electric Surrogate Kithara, a 14-string instrument based on a modified Partch design and built especially for Gelling, celebrated its stage premiere.
This time, Gelling’s research, which has become sound, casts large-format shadows in the electric, acoustic and electro-acoustic space. The ensemble, consisting of a mixture of musicians from jazz, new music and experimental music, will present the pieces and concepts written especially for this evening somewhere between 43 notes per octave, spoken texts, several theremins, flutes, joy of playing, railroads [Partch], a large portion of humor, theatricality, radio radio play, contemporary chamber ensembles, railroads [Gelling], Düsseldorf electro-pop bands, free jazz and specially built instruments.
