The composers who wrote new a cappella settings of old and very old Christmas carols at Dietmar Bonnen’s request in the mid-1990s must have had something similar in mind. Since then, these arrangements have offered listeners the opportunity to rediscover for themselves what the old carols want to sing and say.

This year’s LOFT program will be expanded by some of these songs, which were provided with counterfactual texts by members of the ensemble in a workshop in 2022: The singers* of the LES SAXOSYTHES chamber choir Christmas ensemble will take up the old, create something new and sing something surprising.

The program will be enriched by compositions for solo flute, played by Hans-Martin Müller, who is well known at the LOFT.
