Pablo Held remains pleasantly unpredictable. Once again, the pianist and impresario of the "meets..." series builds on open-ended encounters, creative interfaces and harmonious transitions. This time the key word could be "interweavings": Interweavings of composition and improvisation, of generations and styles, of traditional and modern jazz with European art music.

Talents as young as they are virtuosic enter the LOFT stage as a play space for great depths and sonic expanses. It is hardly surprising that a wonderfully delicate piece by guitarist Ella Zirina is entitled "Intertwining": Here it is again, that intertwining or merging of melody, timbres and textures. In her own quartet, Ella Zirina relies primarily on the interaction of guitar and clarinet, whose part on this evening is likely to be taken over by the breathtaking voice of Eva Swiderski. For the singer from Berlin's young jazz scene, nothing seems unthinkable: With her trio she passionately interprets standards, at the same time grandiosely approaches Johann Sebastian Bach and Hermann Hesse, whose poem "In the Fog" she raptures with her singing into a magical crystalline state.

No less young is the promising drummer Finn Wiest, who played in the Landesjugendjazzorchester Baden-Württemberg as well as in his own quartet with Jakob Mantz, participated in various bands in Cologne (among others in the quartet of Daniel Oetz, Darius Held and Johannes Ludwig) and already has extensive teaching experience of his own. In addition, Pablo Held has invited the Austrian, multi-award-winning modern jazz virtuoso Matthias Pichler as a congenial partner on the double bass, currently a key protagonist of the band "Meadows and Mirrors" with Philipp Schiepek, Jason Seizer and Fabian Arends, among others. Finally, Pablo Held complements his guests on the piano in a quintet project full of "brilliant interweavings"!
