Versatility is the key to our instrument design, across all of the models in our range. Every player's requirements such as their concept of sound, instrument response, physical makeup, technique and approach are different, so that putting together an individual solution for every player is a very logical way to address this.
Even for players who might not consider themselves not to be technically proficent enough to benefit from the ability of choosing individual components, a few minutes experiencing for themselves the marked differences between components soon demonstrates that all trombonists at every level can benefit greatly from having an instrument that is put together to meet their specific needs and requirements.
Ultimately, this produces a trombone that is much more personal and comfortable and consequently much more enjoyable to play. Sometimes players even find that because they now have an instrument that is much more suitable for them individually they can actually do more than they were able to achieve with previous instruments.
Of course, none of this would amount to very much without the precision, detail and care that goes into every Michael Rath trombone. Each and every trombone is constructed by hand, in the same small workshop in northern England. Standards are exacting to say the very least - it's one thing to have an outstanding concept and design, but the execution needs to be equally as high, especially for an instrument where the client rightly expects the highest standards.
Michael Rath trombones have earned their reputation for excellence - in concept, design and the quality of their construction. All of this simply equals excellence in performance.
