Alex Sill & The Way Up Band w/Steve Porcaro at Catalina Jazz Club

Los Angeles based "The Way Up" is a visionary rock-jazz fusion band with an evocative sense of melody and harmony. The members came together to create a fresh, innovative sound that merges the electric power of rock, a jazz sensibility, and dazzling musicianship far beyond their years. "The Way Up" presents its own unique interpretations of well known rock/fusion classics, jazz standards, modern jazz, as well as powerful original material that demonstrates their unique sensibility.
Guitarist ALEX SILL is currently a music student at Cal Arts and recently graduated from Santa Susana High School (2011) in Simi Valley where he was awarded The Louis Armstrong Jazz Award. Alex was recently featured as one of the top three finalists and winner of his category in Lee Ritenour’s International Six String Theory Guitar Competition in August 2012. The competition brought in hundreds of applicants from over 50 countries and was judged by jazz greats including Lee Ritenour, Dave Grusin and Julian Lage....

Vocalist ZOE JACKSON is a senior at Campbell Hall High and is also immersed with their music program. She performs in 3 bands and also plays the bass. Zoe has been involved with music for many years.

Drummer CALIBER CLEVELAND is a freshman at Cal Arts and is proficient in jazz, rock and fusion. He’s a dedicated music student and has been playing for over 10 years.

Keyboardist BOBBY VICTOR is a senior at CSUN. He's been playing keys most of his life. Bobby is into a wide range of music and composes and performs in several bands.

Bassist DANIEL ZUKER is a world traveler - from the Middle East to Europe and South America. He’s influenced by his travels and many styles of music. Daniel is a sophomore at Cal Arts.
