Bernie Dresel currently holds the drum chair for the Grammy nominated Gordon Goodwin Big Phat Band and for 15 years prior was the drummer for the Grammy Award winning Brian Setzer Orchestra.
Modern Drummer magazine readers poll has selected him “Best Big Band Drummer” and Drum magazine has named him to their list of “53 Drummers Who Made a Difference in the 90s” as well as honoring him with a 2002 Drummie for Best Big Band Drummer. He is busy with LA session work as a versatile drummer and percussionist. Bernie has recorded/performed with Ben Vereen, Brian Wilson, Ringo Starr, Maynard Ferguson, David Byrne, the Rippingtons, Chaka Khan, Clare Fischer, Doc Severinson, Philip Bailey, Jeff Lorber, David Lindley, Keiko Matsui, Dolly Parton, Andy Summers, the BIg Phat Band, and Brian Setzer. In addition, Bernie has played on TV scores such as Knot’s Landing, Dallas, Suddenly Susan, Jag, and Star Trek’s Next Generation, Voyager, Deep Space Nine, and Enterprise, The Simpsons, American Dad, Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, Pinky and the Brain, Animaniacs, and King of the Hill. You can also hear him on movie scores such as The Hulk, The Bourne Supremacy, Mission Impossible 3, Ratatouille, Speed Racer, Land of the Lost, Up Marmaduke, Secretariet, & Star Trek.
