Before the age of 5, Jacques was developing a style and flair of his own. Starting out on the trumpet, after hearing guitarist Joseph “Joe” Negri perform on the widely syndicated children’s show “Mister Roger’s Neighborhood” he made a decision to make his mark on what Jacques affectionally calls the “gitbox.”

That influence sparked young Jacques to begin a career that has now spanned over thirty years.

After his academic matriculation, Jacques was inspired to work with students of the Jazz art form as an educator, mentor and diplomat – serving as an Artist Teacher for the Thelonium Monk Institute. He is also an active member of the African-American Jazz Caucus, Jazz Education Network, Make Music LA and the Dolo Coker Jazz Foundation....
