The theme for the Los Angeles Jazz Institute’s October festival is The World Series of Big Band Jazz, celebrating big bands from around the world. This concert features an All-Star Big Band performing a Gil Evans retrospective including music written for Claude Thornhill, Miles Davis, Helen Merrill, and Gil Evans own ensembles with special guests Ron Stout, Gilbert Castellanos, Steve Huffsteter, Lanny Morgan, Denise Donatelli, Bobby Shew and more.
