Six-time San Diego Music Awards Best Jazz Artist & Artist of the Year Gilbert Castellanos performs with San Diego’s baddest at LA’s newest and hottest jazz club - SAM FIRST! Don’t miss this Tribute to the Trumpet Masters including legends Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard and Clifford Brown.
Castellanos was recognized as a Downbeat Magazine “25 For the Future” - one of the nation’s most innovative trumpeters! He is an established music scene-maker in Southern California, curating successful jazz series for the San Diego Symphony (Jazz @ the Jacobs/Bayside Summer Nights), San Diego Museum of Art (Portraits In Jazz) & The Westgate Hotel (Sunset Poolside Jazz Series). The only one of its kind under the wings of a major jazz radio station, he is Director of San Diego’s KSDS 88.3 Jazz Orchestra, a 16-piece big band. He serves as a Resident Composer for the San Diego Ballet, is a long-time member of the world renowned Clayton Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, hosts the city’s longest running weekly jazz jam at Panama 66 at the San Diego Museum of Art, and champions the future of jazz as Founder and Faculty Member of the Young Lions Jazz Conservatory....
