Jazz Nights! Free Outdoor Concert Featuring Kelly Che at San Gabriel Mission Playhouse

Visit the Mission Playhouse June 29th at 6:30pm to enjoy the first of three talented and entertaining ensembles who bring Jazz Nights to the Playhouse from June through August!
The series begins with The Kelly Che Band who bring a “unique jazz sound shaped through a diverse cross section perspective of world music traditions” (lacountyarts.org). Their eclectic sound reflects influences from Cole Porter to the Beatles; from Brazilian melodies to Korean folk. Kelly is a classically trained singer and musician and former local radio DJ from Seoul, South Korea.

Joining Kelly for this performance are notable LA jazz musicians Joe Rotondi (Piano), Edward Resto (Bass), Ramon Stagnaro (Guitar), and Walter Rodriguez (Drums). Joe Rotondi has toured with Linda Ronstadt, Vikki Carr, and Herb Albert. He can be heard on the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. Edward Resto has toured, shared the stage, and recorded for artists including Paul Simon, Tito Puente, Dizzy Guillespie, Carlos Santana, Celia Cruz, and Shakira. Guitarist Ramon Stagnaro has recorded for Celine Dion, Diana Ross, Ricky Martin, Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli, and many others. Walter Rodriguez, a protégé of percussionist Alex Acuña, plays a variety of world music percussion instruments including congas, timbales, and tabla. ...

Jazz Nights continue with Louie Cruz Beltran and his Jazz Ensemble on July 20th and The Dale Fielder Quartet featuring Dale Fielder on sax with Jane Getz on piano and guest vocalist Rita Edmond on August 10th.
