Every Sunday early evening at Casey's Tavern in Canoga Park, from 6-9pm, this lively swinging band plays mostly jazz tunes from the 1920s to the 1960s - Dixieland, swing, Latin, straight ahead, and the occasional oddball items from other genres (pop, European, etc).
The 6-piece band is made up of 3 winds and 3 rhythm players. Everyone takes solos and the crowd pays attention to the music.
There is no cover charge - yes, it's free.
The ambiance is casual, the drinks are cheap and the musicians know which side is up.
This place is relaxed fun.
