Havana born drummer Jimmy Branly, who first rose to prominence anchoring some of Cuba’s most important ensembles before relocating to Los Angeles, has become a first call powerhouse whose versatility spans jazz, Latin, pop, and beyond. For this special Sam First appearance, he is joined by Colombian American saxophonist and flutist Justo Almario, an influential bandleader and former Mongo Santamaría sideman whose soulful, agile sound has long been a defining voice in Latin jazz.
