The Phil Norman Tentet, known for their cool modern west coast jazz roots, performs in a rare Los Angeles concert at Hollywood’s famed Catalina Bar & Grill on Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22 at 8:30 pm. Led by tenor saxophonist and clarinetist Phil Norman, the 11-piece ensemble will feature the music of Grammy and Emmy award winning Bob Florence, the eclectic and internationally acclaimed jazz composer, arranger, band leader, keyboardist, accompanist and educator. In addition, the Tentet will perform selections from their Totally Live and Encore CDs from arrangers Alan Broadbent, Med Flory, Rusty Higgins, Tom Kubis, Roger Neumann, Kim Richmond, Jackson Stock and Scott Whitfield. Taking their “mini-version of a big jazz band,” The Phil Norman Tentet displays incredible range and creativity. The Encore CD was on JazzWeek’s national airplay chart of the top 50 jazz CD releases for over six months and was ranked as high as number 14. ...
