An evening of Contemporary Jazz and Classical music from PocketWatch led by pianist Gerry Bryant followed by The Equanimous Jones Quartet led by saxophonist Tommy Myers at Downtown Los Angeles’ Au Lac Restaurant-Bar Fedora.

Bryant, Harvard trained, describes his music as “Third Stream”, a term coined in 1957 by world renowned composer/conductor Gunther Schuller to describe a musical genre that is a synthesis of classical music and jazz. The Equanimous Jones Quartet was established in 2006 as the musical careers of four musicians became aligned on the same road. While the musicians all had previously performed with one another in various groups and combinations, this new alignment signaled the beginning of their journey to create and perform original music: together, as a cohesive unit. It’s a unique sound of fusion that incorporates several genres of music, and allows EJQ to explore uncommon destinations of the music universe.
