Detroit native P. L. Brown’s repertoire’ spans opera, jazz, Broadway, television and film. He starred on Broadway to rave reviews in the title role of Paul Robeson, and Showboat as Joe singing his show stopping rendition of Ole Man River. He reprised the role for the Papermill Theatre’s PBS Great Performance of Showboat. Reviewers noted that his rich, bass baritone was on par with the great Paul Robeson’s performance of the same role. The Western Region Met winner made his professional opera debut in Michigan Opera as Crown, in Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and later as Commandatore in Don Giovanni. He made his Seattle Opera debut in 2005 as Don Fernando in Fidelio, and returned the following season as Sparafucile in Rigoletto. He has also played the role of Caiaphas in multiple national tours of Jesus Christ Superstar, with the late Carl Anderson (Judas). He starred as Audrey II in the Westwood Playhouse production of Little Shop of Horrors, and Sacramento Music Circus as Big Jules in Guys and Dolls. He received rave reviews as King Henry in The Prince and The Pauper at the 5th Ave Playhouse in Seattle, and a NAACP Nomination for Best Cast Performance for The Princess and the Black-eyed Pea.



Perry studied vocal pedagogy at Wayne State University and is also a seasoned television and film actor who has guest starred on numerous television shows, including Sunny in Philadelphia, CSI Miami, Nickelodeon’s The Haunted Hathaway’s and Victorious. He has featured roles in films, Holla2, Too Dead to Kill, and Exodus of Charlie Wright. He currently can be seen and/or heard on numerous national commercials and popular videos games, and has recurring roles on Brooklyn Nine9, American Crime Story The People Verses OJ Simpson, Walk the Plank and The Young and The Restless.
