The bandstand is really a sacred space. You have no time to think about the future, or the past. The only mistake possible is if each individual musician is not aware and accepting enough of his fellow band members to incorporate their ideas. This prohibits creativity. Patrice Rushen Brilliant pianist and multi Grammy award winning artist has fashioned her career after the legacy of her long-time friend and mentor, Quincy Jones. As composer, producer and international recording artist, Patrice has definitely earned the respect she has been awarded by her peers. She has been consistently one of the music industry’s most versatile and sought after pianists, combining melodic accessibility with seasoned instrumental prowess. Admired by many for her groundbreaking achievements, Rushen has amassed an impressive list of “firsts” —First woman… Musical Director for Grammy Awards / Musical Director, Composer for Emmy Awards / Musical Director of the NAACP Image Awards and the only female Musical Director, Composer for the Peoples Choice Awards and HBO’s Comic Relief. –And, let's not forget; the woman can really play!!

Ben Williams is one of the most sought after jazz bassists in the world, his resume is a who’s who of jazz wisdom, including several years with Harris' "Black Out". To quote Ben: "I like music that grooves and feels good. I just try to be honest musically and bring a youthful spirit. From the first I loved the way the bass felt when I touched it. Then later, just the feeling of playing a groove – the whole instrument vibrates. It almost feels like the spirit of another human being, like dancing with somebody and being in full contact with them. The sound is warm and deep; It resonates with me."
