Gateway Jazz Orchestra with Alan Chan at Gateway Performance Series

Sponsored by the American Composers Forum, this concert will feature the first ever Gateway Jazz Ochestra, a 17-piece big band led by award-winning composer Alan Chan. He will also collaborate with Cape Cod artist/poet Elaine on two new pieces for narrator and the big band.

A member of BMI Jazz Composers Workshop in New York City since 2008, he has studied with prominent composers such as Jim McNeely and Fred Ho. This program features his new works with a unique composition approach, including influences from Charles Mingus to Uri Caine.
