Saxophonist, composer and arranger Cody Dear, 21, is a student at UCLA majoring in Ethnomusicology with a concentration in Jazz Studies. He plays in various ensembles under the direction of Jazz Legends, Kenny Burrell, James Newton and Justo Almario. He is a Music Intern with the Warner Bros. TV Music Department.
Cody has performed in may prestigious venues, including Yoshi’s, Catalina Jazz Club, Monterey Jazz Festival, the SFJAZZ Center, venues in the Philippines, and major jazz festivals such as North Sea, Vienne, Montreux, Umbria, and Tuscia. ...

Earlier this year, we had Cody and the Mingus Ensemble from UCLA, featuring Justo Almario, and the evening was MC'd by the "Jazz Cat", Leroy Downs. We in the audience were mesmerized and astounded at the musicianship of these young players! We are definitely looking forward to this group containing some of the same players!
