Margolis has garnered reviews from press around the world for his compositions and stage productions. In April of 2013 he sold out Hollywood's Fountain Theatre two consecutive nights in a row for his production of Soleangeles performed by the Sir Sultry Quintet. Margolis lived in Seville, Spain for 11 years and toured extensively throughout the world with his flamenco company Arte y Pureza. Sir Sultry, his jazz/world music quintet, features many of Los Angeles’ most prominent jazz and session players and fuses elements of jazz, world, flamenco, Latin, and blues. Soleangeles is also the title of Sir Sultry’s about to be released CD.

El Cid continues its tradition with Spanish Flamenco dinner shows on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:00 pm and Sundays at 5:00 pm. The Sunday Flamenco dinner shows offer authentic Paella which is prepared outdoors on the patio and is available in tapas and dinner-sized portions. In addition, Daily Happy Hour Specials from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, and of course, their eclectic range of nightlife that includes local live bands, comedy nights, Burlesque shows, short-film nights, and other intriguing events.
El Cid debuted on January 6, 1963 as a new Flamenco Club designed as an authentic replica of a 16th century Spanish tavern. Throughout the past 50 years, El Cid has remained true to its Spanish roots featuring a newly updated interior made up of high wood beam ceilings, red velvet drapery, original murals and colorful vintage brick and tile walls. The patio features romantic white lights, fountains, a fully stocked bar and table and booth alfresco dining. The El Cid building was originally built in the early 1900s by D.W. Griffith as Hollywood’s first sound stage movie theater. Griffith’s famous and controversial film “The Birth of a Nation” was screened at the theater in 1915. In 1925, The Jail Café opened at this location with the exterior wall on Sunset Boulevard designed like a prison, complete with a guard tower and was a popular restaurant/nightclub with jail cell booths and prison uniformed waiters. In the 1930’s it became the Gateway Players Club Theatre and in the 1950’s became the Cabaret Concert Theatre. A treasured landmark, El Cid offers a romantic blend of dining, history, and entertainment that is unique, enchanting and beautiful.
Sir Sultry is a mix of jazz, world, Latin, blues, and flamenco grooves. Influences include Miles Davis, Weather Report, Nina Simone, Paco de Lucia, Son House, Robert Johnson, and Jeff Buckley amongst others. Guitarist, Ethan Margolis composes Sir Sultry's music with the purpose of encountering a rich and even balance between jazz and world music. The result is an array of astounding improvisation and rhythmic flurries, tasteful melodies and addictive grooves. Margolis is an acclaimed flamenco guitarist who spent 12 years in Seville, Spain and directs and tours internationally with Arte y Pureza Flamenco Company based out of Los Angeles. His credits include Ines Bacan, Miguel Funi, Concha Vargas, Familia Fernandez, Las Peligros, among others. Sir Sultry’s new CD Soleangeles features Margolis on guitar, Katisse Buckingham on Flute/Sax, Hussain Jiffry on Bass, Ioannis Goudelis on Keys, and Jimmy Branly on Drums.
