Jazz Appreciation Month 2019 - Kick-Off

Spring Jazz Concert Series +

"an all-ages jam session at the renowned World Stage, a cultural landmark that has been at the heart of the (J)azz scene and African American cultural community here in Los Angeles since 1989. The evening will kick off with a set by the ensemble. These musicians are students at the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz Performance at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. This intensive, graduate-level college program enables a select group of the world’s most promising young musicians to study tuition-free with legendary (J)azz artists and educators including NEA Jazz Masters Dee Dee Bridgewater, Ron Carter, Benny Golson, Jimmy Heath, Dianne Reeves and Wayne Shorter, among others. Since its founding, the Stage has grown to assume a pioneering and pivotal role in South L.A.’s music and art landscape and has been a fertile environment that has produced some of the leaders in today's creative music scene." - Holly Wallace...
