Cengiz Yaltkaya is an accomplished pianist/composer born in Istanbul, Turkey, and spent his high school years in Switzerland and moved to New York in 1967. He studied at Berklee College of Music and Julliard School of Music, was an arranger and producer on the staff of Atlantic Records during 1976-86, and became busy as a composer for films and musical theater. He has lived in Los Angeles since 1995 and has since been active on the local jazz scene in addition to appearing at jazz festivals and toured throughout Europe.
Mike Alvidrez was born and raised in East Los Angeles, and began studying the bass while in high school. He continued his education at Pasadena City College and later completed a Bachelor of Music degree at California State University, Northridge. During that time, he studied with Putter Smith, Bobby Bradford, Gary Pratt, and Darek Oles. Michael has performed/recorded with the Peter Myers Orchestra, Charles Owens Orchestra, Ernie Andrews, Isla Eckinger, Riner Scivally, Javier Vergara, Dr. Bobby Rodriguez, Chuck Manning, Bill Barrett, Ramon Banda, Barbara Morrison, Donald Dean, Vinny Golia, Wayne Kramer, Phil Ranelin, and Mike Garson. He has been the house bassist at the World Stage jam session for several years and has performed at many venues around town, notably the Ford Amphitheatre, Central Avenue Jazz Festival, Los Angeles County Fair, Valley Performing Arts Center, Vibrato, and Catalina Jazz Club.
Jerrell Ballard is one of Los Angeles’ finest drummers who has performed with such artists as The Temptations, The DeFranco Family, Linda Hopkins, Johnny Nash, The Floaters, and Enchantment, among others.
The Rendezvous Lounge was the site of the original lobby of the historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel which was built in the gilded Jazz Age in 1923 and is designated as a historic-cultural landmark. A classic hotel that has starred in movies and hosted the Oscars. Feel the holiday spirit with an evening of exciting jazz and cheer at downtown Los Angeles’ historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel.
