Faced with persecution a—fter Sharia law was instituted in Pakistan in 1977, music producer Izzat Majeed convened a devoted group of Lahore musicians to rehearse and record privately. Fueled by a love of American jazz, the ensemble merges Eastern and Western music, crafting a sound that transcends war and oppression. Musician Nijat Ali says, "God willing, this will help the entire world see that Pakistanis are artists, not terrorists."
