The melody, however, dates back to the Peninsular War in the early 19th century.\nIn 1970, the working-class united and elected Salvador Allende to lead them in a socialist transformation of Chile. Their anthem was "El Pueblo Unido Jamas Sera Vencido," or "The People United Will Never Be Defeated." When Pinochet took over in a U.S.-backed coup in 1973, this song became the anthem of the resistance.\nIn 1957, Arkansas governor Orval Faubus sent the National Guard to prevent the integration of Little Rock Central High School. Charles Mingus wrote a song in protest, "The Fables of Faubus."\n"Rally 'Round the Flag" was written in 1862 during the American Civil War. It was also known as "The Battle Cry of Freedom" and was pro-union and anti-slavery. It became so popular the Confederacy adapted it - with alternate lyrics, or course.\nOriginally sung by migrant workers in the rice paddies of the Italian valley of Po in the 19th century to protest working conditions, "Bella Ciao" became famously repurposed as an anti-Fascist anthem in 1943.Tickets are $15 general admission and $10 for students with ID.
