An in-depth analysis and discussion of legendary pianist McCoy Tyner approach to comping and chord voicings as heard on John Coltrane classic album, A Love Supreme. Explore each composition on the album and then look at ways to incorporate McCoy innovative approach into our own playing. Prerequisites: Knowledge of intervals, basic understanding of piano voicings, ability to read music, basic knowledge of pentatonic scales and altered scales, an interest in musical analysis. Student participation is strongly encouraged.
