Johann Sebastian Bach had twenty children who survived to adulthood! Carl Philipp Emanuel, Wilhelm Friedemann, and Wilhelm Friedrich Ernst were all sons of the composer and his two wives, Maria Barbara and Anna Magdalena, the latter of whom was also a fine musician. These young Bachs were among the best of their generation from a family of legendary musicians. Agave Baroque explores some exciting and brilliant chamber works by these three musicians and their siblings in "The Young Bachs." Band Members and Instrumentation: Aaron Westman and Anna Washburn, violins; William Skeen, violoncello; Henry Lebedinsky, harpsichord; Kevin Cooper, lute and baroque guitar. Bio: Early Music America called San Francisco-based Agave Baroque "an energized, free-spirited groupof Californian virtuosi. Specializing in string chamber music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, Agave has received numerous awards and accolades and gained local and national attention for its powerful presence and "emotional wallop" (EMA), expressive and virtuosic (SF Classical Voice) playing and gorgeous (American Record Guide) music, as well as its growing discography.
